Healing Oregano Leaf Elixir
For dried oregano, use a tea strainer or cheesecloth to prevent loose leaves from floating in your elixir.
Add your herbs to the water and let them steep for several minutes to fully extract the medicinal compounds.
Strain the mixture into a heatproof cup or jar, removing all leaves and optional ingredients like ginger or cinnamon.
While the elixir is still warm, stir in raw honey to taste and squeeze in some fresh lemon juice. Allow it to cool slightly before drinking, or refrigerate for later use.
This elixir can be sipped warm for a soothing tea experience or taken as a tonic by the spoonful. It’s especially beneficial when consumed at the onset of symptoms or during seasonal transitions when immunity tends to dip.
How to Make
Use about one to two teaspoons of dried oregano or a small handful of fresh leaves for every cup of boiling water.
Crushing the leaves helps release more of the herb’s natural oils and enhances potency. If you’re including ginger, slice it thin and simmer it briefly with the oregano for a warming effect.
Let the mixture steep covered for about ten to fifteen minutes to ensure all the therapeutic properties infuse into the water.
If you like a stronger flavor or need a more potent dose, steep for longer or use more leaves.
Strain the herbs out and stir in raw honey and fresh lemon juice while the liquid is still warm. This helps dissolve the honey and keeps the lemon’s vitamin C intact. Use a glass jar or mug with a lid to preserve warmth and potency if saving for later.
