Amish Hamburger Steak Bake Recipe

1. Prepare the Hamburger Steaks:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

Mix gently until just combined (over-mixing can make the patties tough).

Form into 6–8 evenly sized patties.

2. Brown the Patties:

Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.

Sear each patty for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned but not fully cooked through.

Transfer patties to a greased 9×13 baking dish.

3. Make the Gravy:

In the same skillet, melt butter. Add mushrooms (if using) and sauté until softened.

Stir in cream of mushroom soup and beef broth. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until smooth and creamy.
