Homemade tomato spaghetti sauce tastes much better than store-bought. It needs to be prepared.

1️⃣ Preparing the vegetables
👉 Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water, peel them, and chop them into pieces.
👉 Finely chop the onion, carrot, and bell pepper.
👉 Press the garlic through a garlic press.
2️⃣ Sautéing the vegetables
👉 Heat the olive oil in a large pot.
👉 Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 2 minutes. 👉 Add the carrots and bell peppers and sauté for 5 minutes.
3️⃣ Cooking the sauce
👉 Add the tomatoes, bay leaves, salt, pepper, and sugar.
👉 Simmer for 45 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
4️⃣ Seasoning
👉 Add the oregano and basil and stir.
👉 If desired, you can blend the sauce until smooth.
5️⃣ Storing
👉 Pour the hot sauce into sterilized jars and seal.
👉 Let stand upside down for 12 hours.
