
Fried green tomatoes
4 medium green tomatoes
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornmeal
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Slice green tomatoes into ½-inch thick rounds.
Pour buttermilk into a shallow bowl.
In another bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Dip each tomato slice into buttermilk, then coat with the cornmeal mixture.
Heat ¼ inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry tomatoes in batches for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
