1️⃣ Fry the minced meat
Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Fry the minced meat until cooked through and lightly browned. Break the minced meat up to make it crumbly and pour off any excess fat.
Add the chopped onion, garlic salt, salt and sugar. Stir, then pour in the tomato sauce. Simmer over low heat for approx. 20 minutes to allow the flavours to develop. Remove from heat.
2️⃣ Cook the pasta
Cook the egg pasta in plenty of salted water according to the instructions on the package. It should be soft but still a little chewy. Drain and rinse quickly in cold water.
3️⃣ Prepare the oven
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Lightly grease a 23 x 33 cm baking dish with oil or shortening.
4️⃣ Mix the cream base
In a bowl, mix the sour cream and cream cheese until completely smooth and creamy. This mixture gives the stew its smooth and rich character.
5️⃣ Layer the ingredients
Now layer the casserole:
Place half of the dough on the bottom of the baking dish
Spread half of the cream mixture
Spread half of the meat sauce
Then repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients.
6️⃣ Cheese and oven
Sprinkle the top generously with grated cheddar.
Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
🍽️ Serving
Let the casserole rest for a few minutes after removing it from the oven. Serve warm with a fresh green salad or garlic bread.
Every bite is creamy, tasty and filling – just like a true family favorite should be.
